Product Description
Contains all the Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents, including super-rarities like the 1877 and 1909-S issues. Grades range from circulated Good to Fine quality.
It's the hardest-to-assemble small U.S. penny complete set, including 18 genuine scarcities. The 1877 key rarity is even more elusive than the 1909-S VDB Lincoln penny key rarity. And there are 17 other issues in the Indian Head series that qualify as especially hard to find. For example, the 1909-S San Francisco Indian Head cent had the lowest mintage (309,000) of any U.S. small cent ever struck for commerce. Its mintage was so low because the Indian Head cent was replaced by the Lincoln cent in February of 1909, for the centennial of Lincoln's birth. Other key scarcities include the 1861, 1864 copper-nickel, 1864-L (with designer James Longacre's initial), 1866, 1867, 1868, 1869, 1870, 1871, 1872, 1873, 1874, 1875, 1876, 1878 and 1908-S issues. Until 1908, only the principal Philadelphia Mint struck Indian Head cents, without a mintmark. Our gradings range from well-circulated Good to Fine quality. This genuinely rare collection comes with a deluxe album with a slot for each issue.
