Product Description
Genuine Civil War Token – Nationwide coin shortages during the Civil War led many merchants to issue their own tokens in an effort to stay in business. Featuring a wide array of designs, advertisements and sentiments, these privately minted copper pieces were the size of the standard cent and many looked much like government issued coins. You will receive one Civil War token of our choice of design in Fine or better quality.
1860-1865 Civil War Era 1¢, 2¢ & 3¢ Trio Good – We've curated a trio of small denomination coins that were struck during the American Civil War. The years-long conflict caused silver, gold and copper coins to all but disappear from circulation. The U.S. Mint would alter the original copper-nickel composition of the Indian Head cent to that of bronze; introduce the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on a new, peculiar two-cent piece; and in place of the vanished silver trime, issue a copper-nickel three-cent piece. Our choice of dates based on availability.
