Prestige Proof Sets were introduced in 1983 when special commemorative dollars were issued by the U.S. Mint. Each set contains the standard denominations for the year as well as one-year only commemorative coins, all in superlative proof quality, with deep-etched frosted engravings and mirror backgrounds. These special sets have significantly lower mintages than regular proof sets. In fact, ten times as many regular proof sets were issued in 1993 than Prestige sets. The 7-coin 1993 set offers regular cent through half dollar issues as well as the Bill of Rights half dollar and dollar commemoratives. Our price for this set is well below the combined price you would pay for the proof set and the two commemoratives separately.
