These premium 2019-W Lincoln cents are the first pennies struck at the West Point facility in more than 40 years and the first to bear the "W" mintmark. The last time Lincoln cents were struck at the West Point Mint was in the 1970s. Output for commerce, the West Point coins produced then carried no mintmark and were identical to other circulation cents.
Packaged separately, these very special 2019-W specimens were originally issued only as a special bonus with the 2019 U.S. proof sets. The current Lincoln portrait obverse and shield reverse engravings are produced in highest proof quality with frosted images and mirror fields. This unique issue is a must have for any serious collector.
