In 1898 the San Francisco Mint issued the fewest silver dollars of any facility. It's estimated that as few as 32,000 of the 1898-S dollars survive in BU quality. Over 10 times as many 1898 Philadelphia dollars and over 20 times as many of the New Orleans issue are estimated to survive in mint-state quality.
