The discovery of the Comstock Lode in Nevada would eventually prompt the creation of a new branch mint to avoid the risk and expense of schlepping the precious cargo overland to San Francisco. These Seated Liberty CC silver dimes had mintages comprising only about 10% of the complete series. What's more, minting of these small denominations abruptly ceased at Carson City in 1878 with the emergence of the Morgan dollar. With so few produced, the CC dime certainly pulled its weight in the Wild West economy, leaving collectible specimens few and far between. Our Fine quality dimes still display the coveted CC mintmark, an assurance of their exceptional scarcity among vintage Seated Liberty silver coins. Our choice of date based on availability.
