The isolated Carson City Mint in Nevada struck just 1.2 million Morgan dollars in 1883, about one-tenth the Philadelphia output. Today the 1883-CC issue is far and away the most elusive for the date. Top-tier specimens of this coin have sold in the past for over $80,000!
